What a start to the weekend! A Supermoon last night and early this morning, followed by sunshine and temps in the upper 70s to mid 80s today. We’ll continue the comfy weather into tonight, and the moon tonight will look bigger and brighter again, so if you get a chance to take a peek, check it out. The moon rises around 8:18PM. Humidity increases a bit tomorrow with sunny skies to start and more clouds in the afternoon. Much of the time is rain-free, but a passing shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon north and west of Boston is not out of the question, especially outside 495 from the Worcester Hills to Southwestern New Hampshire. A few of those showers and storms may find there way to the coast Sunday night.
As a cool front to our west gets close to us, more showers and storms fire into Monday, providing locally heavy rain, and perhaps strong wind gusts. The humidity surges by then as well as dew points head toward 70.
We’re also watching cold air from Canada plunge into the Midwest early next week and as it slides east, the cold front associated with the chilly blast (different system than Monday’s front) will sit just to our west Tuesday and Wednesday. That front will spark numerous showers and storms along and ahead of it as it encounters the warm and humid air in place across the East Coast. For us, it all means the risk of showers and storms is high again Tuesday and perhaps even into Wednesday as that front is slow to progress through. A few storms may contain strong winds, while locally heavy rains will also be possible. I don’t expect it to rain all day, every day, but you don’t need it to rain all day in a set-up like this to pick up a lot of water. Just a couple hours of downpours can produce localized flooding, so we’ll have to keep an eye on where these downpours set up early next week.
Low humidity returns to end the week.
