LOWELL, Mass. (WHDH) -
Fire investigators in Lowell tell 7News they have confirmed the possible cause of Thursday’s fire that killed seven people.
Sources say they are looking at a possible electric issue and they don’t believe the fire is suspicious.
Investigators spent much of the day Friday at the apartment building on Branch Street searching for the cause of the fire.
As more information is released about the fire community members mourn the losses.
Police haven’t officially identified any of the victims but family and friends say five of the victims were related. Torn Sak, his long-term girlfriend and three of their five children died. Tina Christakos was killed according to her family. The seventh person’s identity is still unknown.
In addition 10 people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
A vigil will be held Sunday night at 5:30 at the Glory Buddhist Temple.
