Man's gun jams during robbery in Haverhill

Posted: Updated:
HAVERHILL, Mass. (WHDH) - Police in Haverhill are looking for the man they say tried to shoot a convince store clerk twice.

It happened around 6 a.m. Thursday. The man entered the Tedeschi convince store and pointed his gun at the clerk.

“He pointed his handgun at the clerk, made some threats and at one point when the register wasn’t being opened he was heard to cock the weapon,” a police official said.

The gun apparently jammed and the robber panicked as he left the business.

“He turned again, aimed again at the clerk and again the gun jammed,” police said.

Anyone who recognizes the man, who is believed to be his early 20s, is asked to call the Haverhill Police Department at (978) 373-1212.
