DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -
Boston Police have one person under arrest after a hit and run in Dorchester that left a teenager battling life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say a teen was riding his scooter near Kingsdale Street when he was hit by a red Infiniti.
The driver of that car drove off but witnesses were able to get part of the license plate number.
“Witnesses notified the officers of the partial registration plate of the red Infiniti. Officers located the vehicle in the Dorchester area where the driver fled from the officers at a high rate of speed,” Boston Police Supt. William Gross said.
Police were able to chase the car into Jamaica Plain were the driver crashed the vehicle near a house then fled the scene on foot before being captured.
The teen scooter rider wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and witnesses say he was bleeding profusely from his head before he was taken to the hospital. Neighbors made sure to talk to the teen until police arrived.
The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center. There is no update on his condition Thursday morning.
