911 dispatcher takes emergency call about her son

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - It's a 911 dispatcher's worst nightmare.

Britney Melchor of California took a call about a child in trouble. It turns out her husband was the person on the other line.

"I heard him say an address and I perked up and then I heard him say it again and I recognized that as my own home address," Melchor said.

In May, Melchor dispatched first responders to her home after her one-year-old son, Maverick, was choking on a metal washer that had fallen off a piece of furniture.

Melchor's husband, Robert, managed to clear Maverick's airway as crews were arriving.

Britney's bosses said they are proud of the way she handled the situation.
