Large tree spares two homes in Winchester neighborhood

WINCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -

Residents of Winchester are very thankful no one was injured Monday night when a large tree fell on Upland Road and narrowly missed several homes.

“I’ve never seen any storm like this and I've lived here 55 years,” Delia Connolly said.

Her shed is destroyed but Connolly still has her home. A neighbor’s home was also spared.

“I just dodged a bullet. A couple of feet more to the right and we would have had a serious problem,” Paula Kenney said.

Winds in Monday night's storm reached 90-100 mph and knocked down power lines.

The cleanup was underway all day long from one street to another but despite the headache for some, homeowners said they were lucky.

“It could have been a lot worse. No one was hurt and that's all that matters,” Kenney said.

The tree should be gone soon and everyone in the area hopes they don’t see another storm like this again.
