Building site of deadly Back Bay fire sold

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - The Back Bay building where two Boston firefighters were killed earlier this year has been sold.

The Beacon Street apartment building sold for $6.5 million, with profits going to charity.

Investigators said the March fire was likely sparked by welding next door.

Mayor Marty Walsh said the newly named fire commissioner played a role leading the department during that fire. Walsh selected Chief Joseph Finn, a 30-year veteran of Boston Fire, to head the department.
