Powerful storm knocks down dozens of trees in Winchester

Posted: Updated:
WINCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -  For some Winchester residents there are as many as 20 trees down in their yards.

“You can tell everything is brush, like a comb, like somebody combed it. It just came down so fast,” Stephen Macdonald said.

House after house trees were knocked over by severe weather Monday night, one tree even ended up on the roof of a 173-year-old home.

“The wind the rain were so loud I couldn't hear any trees falling. All I could here was grey, like a tornado,” Stephen Quinn said.

Everyone describes the storm as quick and powerful.

“One minute it was thunder then all of a sudden it started coming down and I looked out and I couldn't see a thing,” a Winchester resident said.

The cleanup started as soon as the storm passed. They know the damage looks bad but things could have been far worse.

“Thank god nobody got hurt. It’s just the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” one resident said.
