FALMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) - A Tropical Storm Warning was issued for Cape Cod and Nantucket as Hurricane Arthur tracked to skim the coastal areas on Friday and into Saturday.

Arthur was downgraded to a Category 1 storm in the Atlantic after making landfall over North Carolina Thursday night.

Travelers made a mad dash to get onto ferries to the islands before the storm approached and brought rougher waters.

“We scrambled to get down here. We missed our ferry so we’re getting on the next one,” Susan Berman said.

Boaters were also warned to take precautions.

“Make sure lines are tight so if we do get wind it doesn’t blow the boat around,” Steve Ferreira said.

The storm isn’t expected to make landfall in Massachusetts, but it will come close enough to worry some.

“The good thing is it’s tracking southeast of Nantucket so that helps us. If it moves closer to the Cape it hurts us more. We’re keeping our fingers crossed,” Ferreira said.
