Bride, bridesmaid jump out of burning apartment days before wedding

Posted: Updated:
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) -  Most every bride dreams of her wedding day; that moment where those closest to you witness one of the most important days of your life.

Naturally, the bride wants everything to be perfect.

Lenise ruff is no different, but for her, this day means so much more.

Lenise is just happy to be alive.

"My apartment burned down, I had to jump out of my third story building in my apartment complex into rocks,” she said.

Lenise and her maid of honor Marilyn Cruc narrowly escaped the apartment fire which burned almost everything she owns.

"We grew up together. She was my roommate as well. She jumped and broke her back,” Lenise said.

Marilyn spent the last six days in the hospital but she was determined to be there for her friend.

So with the help of a walker, Marilyn was there. She was able to make it down the aisle, and be there for that priceless moment.

She was in pain, but she made it. They both did.

"It just means the world to us and I know it was hard."

This day was more than just a wedding. It was a celebration of life and a reminder of what really matters.
