BOSTON (WHDH) -
Boston Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was found in an East Boston residence on Sunday.
Officers responded to Brandywine Drive for a well-being check. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified as Walter Cook, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents in the building said they heard gunshots and that there was an active crime scene set up in the parking lot.
Friends and neighbors questioned why somebody would shoot Cook, who was described as a "wonderful kid."
"Could be for nothing. Could be for something minute. I'm so devastated. Because I loved Walter," said a woman who added that Cook did a lot for her family.
Many in the tight-knit, East Boston neighborhood are terrified.
"Very friendly, a lot of kids running around here, so it's concerning," said one resident.
There is no word if police have anyone in custody. Police said they have not made any arrests but are calling this a homicide situation.
Boston Police are looking for information regarding the incident and are asking anybody with a tip to call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.
