BROCKTON, Mass. (WHDH) -
Congressman Stephen Lynch was in Brockton on Friday touring a VA facility that was named in a revealing report as having two of the most severe cases of negligence in the country.
According to the report by the special prosecutor, two psychiatric patients who were admitted to the VA's community living center in Brockton received no regular medical evaluations for years. One patient was at the facility for eight years before receiving his first medical evaluation and the other had one note in his file from 2005 to 2013.
Lynch spoke about what he saw and said that he saw some improvements.
"I had an opportunity to meet with dozens of veterans today to check in on the level of their care and a number I knew personally, so I feel pretty confident in the overall level of care that the veterans are receiving here medically and you know, I feel reassured after this visit," Lynch said in a press conference.
The VA said that after getting the reports nine months ago, they have taken corrective action.
The congressman also met with Vincent Ng, director of the Boston VA Healthcare System to review the circumstances of the cases.
