JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. (WHDH) -
Boston Police made an arrest overnight in the attack on a woman at the Arnold Arboretum, officials said Friday morning.
Ashton Davis, 23, appeared in a West Roxbury court with his face covered because the prosecution and the defense agree that there is a question of identification.
The suspect had on a GPS electronic bracelet and the data helped lead to the arrest. He had been charged back in February for rape and assault and battery.
Defense attorneys said that the crime had not been reported for 36 hours and that the identification by the victim of the suspect is not definite.
The judge revoked the bail from the previous charges and set the bail for the latest accusation at $50,000 cash.
Police increased patrols after a woman said she was sexually assaulted and robbed at knife-point by a man on a bike around 11 a.m. Wednesday. The victim said she had gone to the Arboretum to study when the suspect approached her with a kitchen knife.
