JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. (WHDH) - People in Jamaica Plain are on alert after a daytime attack in the Arnold Arboretum Wednesday.

The park as a popular place for outdoor enthusiasts and families looking to do something different.

“I’ve never felt unsafe for a single second so that worries me,” Stacey Hero said.

Stacey Hero often runs through the park with her husband.

“These things do happen, but we feel generally safe around here,” Joe Hero said.

Boston Police are increasing patrols after a woman said she was sexually assaulted and robbed at knife-point by a man on a bike around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

“That is the scariest part. You’d think that in the morning you’re pretty safe. At night maybe, at dusk maybe it would happen,” Stacy Hero said.

Police say the suspect is described as a black male in his 20s. Anyone who was in the park at the same time as the attack is asked to call the Boston Police Department at 1 (800) 494-TIPS.
