Mark Wahlberg in Boston for Transformers screening

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Mark Wahlberg was in Boston Thursday night, premiering his new film "Transformers: Age of Extinction" at Regal Fenway Stadium.

“It was the first time I've been able to make a movie that my kids were really excited to be a part of, that they could see and my wife would allow,” Wahlberg said.

The 43-year-old said training for the movie was intense because he isn’t the young stuntman he used to be.

"The main thing was to not get hurt. There’s a lot of running, a lot of jumping, a lot of getting beaten up and you don’t want to do anything that will slow up production,” Walhberg said.

This was more than a movie premiere for the actor. He focuses on improving the quality of life for inner city youth through the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation and brought kids from different Boys and Girls clubs all across the state to enjoy the movie

“Any time I’m in business with anybody, we try to get them involved with the foundation. I work really hard for everyone that I’m in business with and everyone I partner with and I want them to be able to give back. It’s really important to me and everybody that I work with,” Wahlberg said.

Former Patriot Matt Light was also at the screening to support the foundation.

"His foundation, the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, is incredible and tying it into what he does and these premieres speaks volumes to me,” Light said.

The kids from the Boys and Girls clubs were thrilled to have this opportunity

"It just shows that he's a really good guy," said one child.

All of the kids said they were able to meet Wahlberg and talk to him.
