Vermont lawyer tackled by police officer after lunging toward tow driver

Posted: Updated:
ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WHDH) -  A Vermont lawyer ended up bloody, on the ground and staring down the end of a police stun gun after an altercation with a tow truck driver.

It was all caught on the officer’s dash board cam.

The lawyer was originally stopped for having his windows tinted too dark. He tried to drive away but his car got stuck and the officer called a tow for him.

Things turned nasty when the tow company wouldn’t accept the man’s insurance and the driver was asked to pay.

"If he gets in my way, I'm going to push him out of the way. Here. Put the cuffs on, right here,” Peter Martin, the lawyer can be heard saying.

Martin then lunged toward the tow truck driver and that’s when he was knocked to the ground by the officer.

"Do you want to get tazed? Do you want to get tazed? Step away from the... Step away from the gun,” the officer said.

When Martin fell to the ground a gun also fell with him and that’s when the officer said he started fearing for his life.
