We surely needed the rain for the lawns, gardens as well as fairways and man did we get it! Some towns (Peabody & Beverly) getting over an inch of rain in just over an hour–that’s a bit too much and led to some large puddles for a time early this morning. For the rest of us, just some beneficial rain.

The other great thing about this rain is that it’s tied to a fast moving (for this time of year) weather system. That means the day is salvageable for outdoor plans (sans the beaches). We will still have a lot of clouds and a small risk of some isolated showers by afternoon but by no means a washout. Very humid conditions with temps in the 70s. Looks OK for the World Cup Viewing Party in City Hall Plaza as well as the Billy Joel concert out at Fenway this evening (have the rain gear on stand-by).

Next we focus on getting rid of this tropical air. That happens overnight and especially on Friday as another Canadian High Pressure saves the day with dry air and comfortable temps. This High Pressure is with us right through the weekend so plan on sunshine and low humidity. Temps will be on the rise, reaching the mid 80s by Sunday (cooler at the beaches).

 Enjoy!
