The jury heard closing arguments Wednesday in the trial of a man accused of killing UNH student Lizzi Marriott.
Defense attorneys pleaded their case but prosecutors said Seth Mazzaglia was a rapist and a killer.
"Ladies and gentlemen recognize your doubts about this case. Recognize your doubts about the source of these claims. Justice is a verdict of not guilty,” defense attorney Joachim Bargh said.
"This is not just some regular guy just trying to get sex. That’s not who this defendant is. This defendant has made clear that if his sexual desires are not fulfilled, the darkness will get the better of him,” prosecutor Jeffrey Ward said.
Mazzaglia is accused of strangling Marriott at his apartment back in 2012.
His attorneys argued she died accidentally during rough sex games with Mazzaglia and his former girlfriend Kat McDonough.
Marriott was a freshman at UNH when she disappeared; her body was never found.
