Patients neglected at Brockton veteran's facility

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - There are new allegations of mistreatment of at least two patients at a local VA facility.

The new report claims two of the most egregious cases of neglect at VA hospitals happened in Brockton.

Two men spent years at the Brockton VA hospital without getting proper treatment. One man was at the psychiatric facility for eight years before receiving his first evaluation. The other man only had a single "psychiatric note" added to his medical file during an eight year period.

This comes as CNN reports a scheduling clerk at the Phoenix VA hospital claims records were changed in order to conceal how many veterans died while still waiting for medical care.

The hospital clerk says records that show veterans had died were altered seven times since October.

A VA hospital official testified before the House Veterans' Affairs Committee Monday.

The latest allegations of altered records angered those on Capitol Hill.

Since April, officials have launched investigations involving 42 VA locations across the country.
