Close encounter with large great white shark

Posted: Updated:
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -  It was a close encounter of the Jersey Shore for a group of boaters who had a run in with a great white shark.

“It swam down the length of the boat and I happened to see it first. I was a little bit stunned. I didn’t say anything to anyone because I was just trying to process it,” Steve Clark, the boat owner, said.

It was his 35-fet boat that stood between him and rows of razor sharp teeth.

When he told others on board to look up the video cameras came out.

“It wasn’t scary because we’re used to sharks, it was awesome,” Clark said.

The shark hung out by the boat for about 20 minutes; enough time for Clark to guess she weighed just shy of one ton and was about 16 feet long.

“The likelihood of seeing another one that clos is probably never going to happen again,” he said.
