WASHINGTON (AP) - A former Army staff sergeant from New Hampshire is becoming the latest recipient of a Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama.

Obama is scheduled to bestow the nation's highest military decoration on Ryan M. Pitts during a White House ceremony on July 21.

The resident of Nashua, New Hampshire, also will become the ninth living recipient to be so honored for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The White House says next month's ceremony will commemorate the "example of selfless service" exhibited by the former Army paratrooper during combat operations in Kunar Province, in northeastern Afghanistan, on July 13, 2008. The White House released no other details.
