BILLERICA, Mass. (WHDH) -
Billerica Police are investigating whether a car was intentionally set on fire Sunday night.
The car was removed from the street in front of Rob Rawson’s home. He is thankful his son wasn’t in the car when it was torched.
“It’s getting dangerous around here. These kids don’t realize that somebody’s going to get hurt. My son usually sits in his car and listens to the radio at night. If he was in the car he wouldn’t be here to talk about it,” Rawson said.
Police are looking for evidence of arson in the car.
“We did locate some evidence in the vehicle that leads us to believe this was an intentional act,” Billerica Deputy Police Chief Roy Frost said.
Rawson said the car was parked in front of the home he has lived in for 20 years. He believes neighborhood kids targeted his teenage son.
"Last night my son came running downstairs and said he heard a noise. Someone threw a bomb in his car and blew it up, a gas bomb," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Billerica Police Department at (978) 667-1212.
