BOSTON (WHDH) -

The weather outside over the weekend was perfect for runners and on Sunday, more than 6,000 took to the streets in the Boston Athletic Association's fourth annual 10K run.

Stephen Sambu of Kenya and Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia defended their titles from 2013. Sambu ran a world-leading time of 27:25. Daska broke a previous record by finishing in 31:04.

The 10K run took runners through the Back Bay neighborhood.

The race is the second in the B.A.A.'s distance medley. The third and final event in this series will be a half marathon in October.
