LAWRENCE, Mass. (WHDH) -
Four families were displaced when a fire destroyed a multi-unit home in Lawrence Saturday morning after a reported domestic dispute.
Police said that Yohanna Estrella set the home on Haverhill Street on fire early Saturday after she fought with her girlfriend, stabbed her with a knife, and set a couch on fire.
Neighbors were perplexed that an argument likely caused the destruction. Jose Gonzalez, a friend of the couple who lived right above the apartment where the fire started said they lost everything and did not know where they would live.
"My friend and her husband both made it out of the second floor and down the stairs," Gonzalez said.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital. The victim was treated for the stab wounds and was expected to be okay. No tenants were seriously injured but three pets were believed to have died.
