Fla. mother found child locked alone in day care

Posted: Updated:
WATERFORD LAKES, Fla. (WHDH) - Orange County Florida deputies said a mother found her child alone inside a locked daycare facility.

The fire department helped get the 4-year-old boy out of the Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy in the town of Waterford Lakes.

The facility admitted it was an unfortunate mishap and said they were putting a plan together.

Owner Jose Diaz blamed a miscommunication between two staff members during a closing process and said those teachers have been fired.

This happened during a Parents' Night Out event.

The daycare watched the kids while parents enjoyed time to themselves, but when the mom arrived late, she found the doors locked and the lights out.

She called 911 and she was reunited with her child.
