The Salem Police Department issued the following press release regarding two officers who were reportedly attacked at Canobie Lake Park:

At 1330 hours 2 Salem Officers were injured after being attacked by a family at Canobie Lake Park. The family was asked by Park security prior to entering to put the knives they were carrying on their belts into their vehicle as they could not bring them into the Park per policy and safety of guests.

Several members of the family became extremely belligerent and the 2 Officers assigned to the detail responded to the front gate. One of the family members became even more belligerent, yelling profanities in front of hundreds guests including families and kids.

After several warnings he was he was told he was under arrest. While attempting to handcuff him he became extremely combative towards the Officer. Several of the family members then attacked both Officers, including jumping on the backs of the Officers, punching and kicking them, and grabbing for their weapons.

During the attack and fight, other family members were yelling profanities at the officers. They immediately radioed for assistance as they were now engaged in a melee. Numerous on-duty Salem Units arrived and quelled the situation.

A total of 5 family members were taken into custody on a myriad of charges.

Both Officers sustained injuries: 1 with bumps, bruises, cuts and scrapes, the 2nd Officer sustained a serious shoulder injury and was transported by ambulance to PMC where he was treated and released. Once numerous backup Officers arrived, the mother of the family faked a seizure. She was looked at by SFD Paramedics and released at the scene. Arrest and bail info as follows:

Damian Perry, 18YOA – Lyndonville, VT

    *Released $5k PR Bail


Ashley Perry, 20YOA – Sutton, VT

    Released on $5k PR Bail
