WALTHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -
Police in Waltham are looking for a masked man who they say attacked a woman inside the snack shack at a town park.
The woman said she was restocking the concession stand when she was approached by an armed man.
“A guy came in with a mask and a knife. He told me to take everything off. I whimpered a little bit and asked him what he meant and he came closer to me and said it again,” the victim said.
Police have surveillance video of the man slowly approaching the woman to attack her.
“It was a crime of opportunity, we don’t know. The police were there pretty quick and checked the area,” Waltham Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Guigno said.
The woman said the knife he was carrying was very large, but she was familiar with the building and was able to escape.
“I pointed to the cameras and said ‘there’s cameras in here’ and he said put down the scissors because I had scissors in my hand and then I just ran out of the shack and ran up to the street, pulled the fire alarm down the street there and started screaming for help,” she said.
The woman hopes sharing her story and releasing the surveillance video will help capture the man.
“I have confidence that they’ll have people more aware of the area and hopefully find out who did this and he won’t do it again or harm someone or kill them,” she said.
Police have a limited description of the man because he was wearing a mask during the attack.
