Wrentham cops rescued dog trapped in car

Posted: Updated:
WRENTHAM, Mass. (WHDH) - A dog that was overheating was rescued from a truck after it was left alone behind the Wrentham Mall on Sunday.

Police said that officer Peter Lown broke into the truck to rescue the dog, which was thirsty and overheating.

Officials are warning people not to leave dogs in parked vehicles, even if the window is cracked since the temperature in a car can rise quickly. They encourage pet owners to leave dogs at home.

This comes after a dog died after it overheated in a car at the mall several months ago.
