Police investigating homicide in Rutland

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Mass. (WHDH) - Police and the district attorney are investigating a murder inside a home in Rutland.

Joseph Early Jr. said that a body was discovered Saturday inside the home and belongs to the 59-year-old homeowner.

“He’s the only person who lives at that house and being the kind of guy who likes police presence I figured he’d be out here trying to talk to them with me and he’s not," one man said.

Police have been called to the particular house 22 times since Sept. 2009, including the call on Saturday for this incident.

Investigators have been working around the clock at the scene since the body was discovered, blocking off a portion of the road.

"It just made me really uneasy last night," neighbor Janice Pierce said. "This is the second one on this street in three years."

In July 2011 a man was killed in a home no more than a quarter mile from the house now currently surrounded by yellow tape.

Neighbors say a man lived in that house by himself.

"It's a very sad situation, he's all by himself and no family that I know of, no visitors that I know of," one neighbor said.

One incident reported to police in the neighborhood was a suspicious pickup truck driving in and out of several driveways.

The District Attorney has not announced any arrests yet.
