Maria Menounos shares fitness tips at Health Expo

BOSTON (WHDH) - It's about being healthy and not skinny, according to Maria Menounos, who brought the message to the Health and Fitness Expo at the Hynes Convention Center on Saturday.

She shared some tips from her new, best-selling book "The Every Girl's Guide to Diet and Fitness."

"What I want people to walk away from with this book is let's aim to be healthier, not skinner. When you think of the food more as fuel you will become skinner, I promise," Menounos, a Medford native and Emerson College graduate, said.

Her advice to avoid fast food? Always have a healthy snack handy.

"Be prepared. Have almonds in your car and your purse, peanuts, they never melt, they never go bad," she said.

Making time is also key. Menounos said that you should always set aside at least 15 minutes for a meal.

People packed in to hear more tips from her and ask questions. Menounos said that she's always happy to help.

"It's the greatest reward in the world to see people coming in and tell me how much they love the book, because they're reading it in line," she said.
