Thousands attend first day of Health and Fitness Expo

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Saturday was the first day of the 7News Health and Fitness Expo and thousands turned up at the Hynes Convention Center.

Crowds started pouring in as soon as the doors opened to the expo finding two exhibition halls filled with fun. Everything from health screenings to face painting to the Olympic experience and best of all, it was free.

"It is a wonderful event," said CEO of Boston Medical Center Kate Walsh. "It's fun, it's informative, the celebrities. There's something for everybody here today."

Boston Medical Center is the perfect partner with its practice of reaching out to the neighborhoods with various health tests and screenings. And it's all happening on Father's Day weekend, making it a great stop for dads and they're families.

New this year is the Olympic Zone. Ice skaters can show off their moves and meet bronze medal winner Simon Shnapir. Also new is a chance to sit in the judge's chair from NBC's The Voice. If you're lucky, you might get to meet Season 2 contestant James Massone.

Attendees also got the chance to meet 7News personalities with a live version of What's Cookin' and a chance to step in front of the camera to deliver sports or weather.
