Man accused of stabbing wife inside Rockland house

Posted: Updated:
ROCKLAND, Mass. (WHDH) - Relatives did not hold back tears or hide any emotion in court as Richard Langley was arraigned for killing his wife Patricia.

Court documents revealed gory details of how prosecutors say it all went down Wednesday night in Rockland.

Investigators say Richard believed Patricia was having an affair with another man, who he referred to with a racial slur, so he apparently told cops he stabbed her.

Patricia, the mother of four adult children, was able to make it out of the house Wednesday night several neighbors saw her in the front yard and tried to help.

Prosecutors say that's not all they witnessed.

"Multiple witnesses stated that they saw the defendant as he was being led by the victim in this case going to the cruiser reach out and try to kick the victim,” one attorney said in court.

Police say Richard calmly smoked a cigarette and showed absolutely no remorse as he sat outside his home awaiting police.

Neighbors describe Richard as a nice guy.

"Senseless isn't the word. You'd never expect it from a person like him,” Mike Hackett said.

Other neighbors say they never saw any problems with the marriage and didn’t expect anything like this.
