Marathon bombing suspect to ask for trial move

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (AP) - Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say they plan to ask a judge to move his trial outside Boston.

In a court filing Wednesday, Tsarnaev's lawyers say they intend to file a venue-change motion, but they say they need to do additional expert analysis of "media surrounding this case" before filing the request.

The defense is asking the judge to extend the deadline to file the motion from June 18 to Aug 3.

Authorities say Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan, planted two pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the 2013 marathon, killing three people and injuring more than 260.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to 30 federal charges and is awaiting a trial scheduled to begin in November.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev died following a shootout with police.
