Maine police searching for source of disturbing letter

Posted: Updated:
KENNEBUNK, Maine (WHDH) - Police in Maine are looking for a man who delivered creepy letters to three homes in Kennebunk.

The notes are all signed “Your friend pervert.”

“The mailman brought the note up with the mail, because the note was in the mailbox, and said, ‘this is kind of disturbing,’” Eric Falconer, one of the people who received a letter, said.

Police gave 7News a copy of the hand-written note, which reads: “I will not stay away from your kids! Your friend pervert.”

Falconer said his only child is 19-years-old, but he also said he happens to have a surveillance camera pointed at the mailbox.

“We went right to the camera, pulled the video, brought it down to the PD with the note,” he said.

At least three letters were delivered and police believed they were all from the same sender.

Police said the vague threat isn’t a crime, but they wanted to know who was behind it all and what they are thinking.

“We hope it’s something stupid like that, someone who's not thinking, someone trying to be funny, I don’t think it's that, I think there's some intent behind it,” an officer said.

Kennebunk officers first worried the veiled threat could be from a sex offender.

“That’s the first box we check off, is to check the registered sex offenders, to see if there's anybody who matches that description, and to this point, we haven't found anybody,” the officer said.

Thanks to this video, police now have a better chance finding this man to figure out the reason for his disturbing delivery.
