Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - A movie inspired by a late Quincy teenager shone brightly at the weekend box office.

"The Fault in Our Stars", based on the popular John Green book, pulled in more than $48 million in its debut weekend.

The book and film's main character was based off of Esther Grace Earl, who lost her battle to cancer in 2010.

She had met the author at a Harry Potter convention.
