Air bag causes bang at State Street station

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - An air bag caused some trouble on the MBTA Orange Line Thursday morning.

7News received reports of passengers asked to get off a train after hearing a loud bang at State Street station.

MBTA investigators said that an air bag that was in the undercarriage of the train's fourth car blew, causing the loud bang. The air bags on subway cars are similar to shock absorbers on motor vehicles.

The MBTA has removed the train from the tracks and says that everything should be back to normal.
