Hanscom flight data indicates plane never left ground

Posted: Updated:
BEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - Investigators say the plane that crashed at Hanscom Field reached a speed of 189 miles an hour before crashing and never got off the ground.

Officials are still combing through the wreckage where they found the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder intact Monday evening.

Those two devices have been sent to a lab in Washington D.C. where they will be examined further.

NTSB officials said after looking at the devices a preliminary investigation shows they have about two good hours of audio recordings.

“After the rotate callout, the CVR captured comments concerning aircraft control. The aircraft reached a maximum speed of about 165 knots. FDR data indicated that the aircraft did not lift off the runway,” NTSB official Luke Schiada said.

A team of NTSB investigators will now review the recordings, and transcribe all the communication.
