Arlington residents on the lookout after alleged rape

Posted: Updated:
ARLINGTON, Mass (WHDH) - Arlington residents say a recent sexual attack inside a woman’s home has put them on edge.

Police say the suspect, Essie Billingslea, entered a strange home in Arlington and violently raped a woman who lived there.

“Everybody is so friendly in this town everybody knows each other you shouldn’t have to worry about stuff like that,” Nick Williamson said.

Billingslea is a Boston resident and registered Level 3 sex offender, police say he may have been in Arlington visiting friends.

“I feel like the police have done a great job here in Arlington unfortunately bad things happen anywhere you live. It’s still shocking when it does happen in your neighborhood though," Mackenzie Bigelow said.

Many residents of Arlington that spoke to 7News said they wish they could leave their doors unlocked but understand that isn’t the way the world is.
