BOSTON (WHDH) -
Two construction workers were injured Monday afternoon while they were repairing the Longfellow Bridge.
The workers were inside one of the “salt and pepper shaker” supports getting ready to pour concrete to add support when something went wrong.
They were in a pit that was about 50-60 feet. Somehow the concrete shifted in the chute, the chute and the concrete came down and hit these two people right in the back and in the head and the shoulders,” Boston Deputy Fire Chief Steve Dunbar said.
The two workers were treated on the scene before being lifted out of the support on a crane and then brought to Mass. General Hospital.
"The injuries don’t appear to be life threatening but both of them got hit in the head pretty hard, a couple cuts, lacerations to the head. Lacerations in the head," Dunbar said.
