NORTH READING, Mass. (WHDH) -
A fire in North Reading early Saturday morning burned a golf course's maintenance garage to the ground.
Police and fire crews responded to the Thomson Country Club Golf Course after calls came in at around 2:10 a.m. Calls reported multiple explosions coming from inside the structure and the building was engulfed in flames.
Responders from Middleton, Wilmington, Reading, Lynnfield and Wakefield helped to extinguish the fire.
The garage stored an estimated $1 million worth of equipment.
Investigators believe the explosions heard were from maintenance equipment tires expanding and exploding.
