Arlington restaurant trashed, suspect takes nothing

ARLINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) - A Restaurant in Arlington was trashed last Thursday morning, but the owner says what worries him is that nothing was stolen.

Surveillance video shows the suspect pacing outside Sabzi, a Persian restaurant, then all of a sudden he smashes the window, walks inside, and starts breaking anything he can get his hands on.

“Just very casually some guy walked in, did a number on the bar, and then casually just walked out again,” Mehran Khosrowdad, the owner, said.

Video shows the man breaking plates, glasses, and even throwing a barstool against the bar before leaving but it doesn’t show him taking anything.

“Nothing was missing, cash register was right there, stereo, iPod, nothing,” Khosrowdad said.

The suspect did more than $4,000 worth of damage, but that didn’t stop Sabzi from opening later that night.

Still, Khosrowdad said, he feels uncomfortable with what happened.

“It makes you a little bit uneasy, more uneasy than just a plain robbery. It’s not a break-in, it’s personal or something,” he said.
