Study: Living near Logan may be bad for your health

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Living near Logan Airport may take a toll on your health according to a new study about air quality.

State public health officials say children who live in neighborhoods bordering Logan are three to four times more likely to have asthma-related symptoms.

Adults are twice as likely to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The report, commissioned by the legislature 14 years ago, studied residents of 17 communities within a five-mile radius of the airport.

The study says the airport has taken steps to reduce air pollution in recent years.
