Fans hope to get glimpse of Depp on North End film set

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Movie crews were busy turning back time in Boston’s North End Thursday as filming for “Black Mass” continues around the city.

Johnny Depp is playing mob boss James Whitey Bulger in the movie based on Bulger’s activity.

"We heard Black Mass was shooting, honestly we thought we would see Johnny Depp,” Eli Kariv said.

Kariv and many other fans were disheartened when they found out Depp wasn’t on set Thursday, but they still said it was awesome to see how a movie is filmed.

"We're both watching the film being made and it's really exciting,” Nicole Kelner said.

Crews have been filming in Boston for about a week already, with shoots in Cambridge and Dorchester drawing attention.

Alesia Vaccari lives right near Margaret Street in the North End where the filming was taking place, she said she doesn't mind the crowd.

"It's great, I think it's great for the North End. I haven't seen anyone yet but I'll be looking out my window tonight,” she said.

Fans said they aren’t sure how long filming will take place, but they’ll stay as long as they can to catch a glimpse of a star.

"I'm obsessed with Adam Scott so I know that he's in it and I wanted to see him,” Diane Wright said.

Even if they don't get to see their favorite actor fans are convinced they are watching something special.
