Walpole Elementary student diagnosed with whooping cough

WALPOLE, Mass. (WHDH) - Walpole Public Schools has confirmed that one child has a case of the whooping cough.

School officials say the child is a student at the Boyden Elementary school and is now past the point of being contagious. It's believed no other students have been exposed.

School officials are working with the Mass. Department of Public Health to monitor the situation.

A fact sheet has been sent home to parents about the disease, which is medically called Pertussis.
