JetBlue plane returns to Logan after hitting bird

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Scary moments for some passengers on a JetBlue flight from Boston to Chicago Tuesday morning when just after takeoff their plane hit at least one bird forcing them to make an emergency landing.

Passengers on the plane said they weren’t sure what happened, but they knew something wasn’t right.

“It had this shake that didn’t seem normal, and it was loud, a loud shake and then immediately it sounded like somebody pressed the call symbol. I don’t know if that was somebody in the front of the plane talking to somebody in the back of the plane. You just knew something was different. I wouldn’t say it was scary, it just was different than what you were expecting and it was super loud like the top of the plane was going to come off,” Brendan Stephens, a passenger, said.

JetBlue gave passengers the option of getting on another flight.

“The captain elected to return to BOS where the aircraft was inspected by maintenance. The flight landed safely at BOS and customers were given the option of being accommodated on another flight from BOS to ORD,” a statement from JetBlue said.
