Victim impact statements read at Remy plea

WOBURN, Mass. (WHDH) - After Jared Remy pleaded guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, Jennifer Martel, the court heard victim impact statements.

A neighbor and friend of Jennifer Martel's stood at a podium and read a statement on her relationship with Martel and how Martel's death affected her life.

A representative for the Martel family read from their statements.

"Our lives will never be the same again. It doesn't seem real. It's a nightmare," the statement said.

"We miss everything about Jen. Her voice, her smell, her smile, her personality. We miss the pictures she posted on Facebook. We miss her phone calls. Our granddaughter will grow up without a mother." the statement continued.

Martel's family included in the statement that their world would never be the same.

Jared Remy's lawyer said his client would have no contact with his daughter as he serves his life sentence.
