IPSWICH, Mass. (WHDH) -
Jeff Fowler can muster a thin smile while in the emergency room knowing he's lucky to be alive.
For several minutes Monday afternoon he was pinned under his yard tractor in Ipswich.
From his hospital bed at Beverly hospital he said he was preparing to do some work in the wooded area by the beach in front of his home when a wrong turn caused the tractor to topple and suddenly the entire machine was on top of him.
From the sandbar those enjoying a Memorial Day afternoon in Plum Island Sound say they could see a man in trouble but couldn't reach him with the rocky shoreline.
Fowler says four men finally reached him and were able to lift the tractor off him before emergency crews were able to rush him to the hospital.
