Some areas in Texas could run out of drinking water soon

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Some towns in Texas could run out of drinking water in the next 90 days because of an extreme drought.

Restrictions are in place for residents. They're hoping for significant rainfall.

One water park is even trucking in well water, to keep the park open.

People who live in Texas say the effects will be felt for years.

"It's just kind of scary. We're very cautious about how we use our water, trying to conserve water as much as possible," said one resident.

The latest drought monitor shows 90% of the state is in a drought.

This current drought started four years ago and experts say it's among the worst in the past 500 years.

Texas is just one state going through the worst drought in history. The USDA has listed six others, where more than half its land is going through severe drought. Topping the list is California, followed by Nevada and New Mexico.
