Five hospitalized after Whitman crash

Posted: Updated:
WHITMAN, Mass. (WHDH) - Five people were taken to local hospitals after a three-car crash at the intersection of Route 27 and 18 in Whitman.

"The whole front of the cop car was totaled, it was missing," said a man who was nearby and rushed outside after the crash.

"It was bad. You can see where the dirt is from where the front of the car was," he said.

A police cruiser was crushed and two cars were smashed together.

"There was cops everywhere, the front end of the cop car was completely missing, there was two cars over there, in a v-shape," the man said.

At least five people were hurt, including a pregnant woman and two police officers.

Police were trying to get to a laundromat for a possible break-in.

"Oh, this is a bad intersection. I used to live over the corner, accidents happen here all the time," the witness said.

At that point, investigators said, police had the emergency lights on and siren blaring.

For now, no one has been blamed for the wreck.

Accident reconstruction tried to pinpoint what happened during the crash.

Injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
