Ummm…..yeah….not exactly how I want to start my summer…clouds, drizzle & showers. I recall last year starting similar (a heavy, cold rain with temps in the 40s). Thankfully, it won’t be that bad this year but this weekend won’t win any best weather awards.

Today is the worst of the three with mostly cloudy skies and passing showers this morning and again late this afternoon. I do think there will be large-timely gaps between the showers so today does not get stamped with “washout”. Temps struggle to reach the 60s later today.

Sunday we see more sunshine but a continued risk of isolated showers & perhaps even a thunderstorm. Two thoughts about Sunday’s rain chance. A) I think the timing is from 10am until 2pm and 2) the highest chance of these isolated storms will be along & west of I-495. I think metro Boston & the beaches stay dry tomorrow. We’ll all see greater amounts of sunshine compared to today. The reason for the unsettled weather is low pressure dragging its heels through New England these next two days.

Finally by Memorial Day itself, high pressure gives a boot to the slow moving storm & that will provide dry weather and also much warmer weather with most cities & towns reaching 80 degrees by afternoon. Monday appears to be a great beach day with temps in the upper 70s—plan on near 70 for the beaches on Cape Cod.

Regardless of your plans, have  a safe holiday weekend!
